Arson suspected in Waipahu fire
Fire investigators believe an early morning fire that destroyed a carport in Waipahu was intentionally set and has turned the case over to police.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to a carport on Pilimai Street after responding to a 1:55 a.m. alarm.
The fire was brought under control within five minutes. No one was living in the house.
Damage, which was mainly to a carport and a moped, was estimated at $10,000. said Capt. Terry Seelig, Honolulu Fire Department spokesman.
Minor damage to the exterior of the house was reported.
