Church to host e-waste recycling event
Central Union Church is collecting and recycling old and outdated computers and other electronic equipment from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 28 on its grounds, 1600 S. Beretania St.
The “free unlimited e-waste event” will be held in partnership with Pacific Corporate Solutions. Its aim: to help protect the environment by keeping waste out of the landfill. The event is open to the public and all commercial businesses, and there are no limits on quantity.
A church news release notes, “E-waste is the fastest growing waste stream in the world today with over 2 million tons ending up in landfills. It is estimated that e-waste comprises about 2 percent of the municipal solid waste stream.”
Computers, monitors, laptops, printers, fax machines, servers and telecom equipment will be accepted, but no TVs, alkaline batteries or microwaves. Nothing will be accepted after the event. For more information about electronic waste disposal options, call 488-8870.
