Kalanianaole Highway reopened after crash near Makapuu
Honolulu police closed Kalanianaole Highway between the Makai Pier and the Makapuu lookout for more than an hour after a three-vehicle accident this afternoon.
Police said the crash happened just after 1 p.m. Saturday near Makapuu Beach Park. The highway reopened by 2:30 p.m.
A Honolulu Fire Department spokesman said the three-vehicle crash injured involved six people and that five of those people were transported for treatment: two in serious condition to the Queen’s Medical Center and three in less serious condition to Castle Medical Center.
Those injured include a 13-year-old boy and at least one man and one woman of unknown ages, according to an Emergency Medical Services report.
It’s the second time Saturday that the highway was closed following a crash.
This morning, police closed Kalanianaole Highway between Hanauma Bay and the Halona Blowhole lookout for more than an hour because of a motor vehicle accident.

The accident happened near the Koko Head shooting range at about 11 a.m. The road was reopened before 12:30 p.m.
