Hawaii nursing homes among best in U.S.

Hawaii nursing homes are the fourth-highest ranked in the nation for overall quality and the Aloha State is only one of ten to receive an “A” grade.

In its first such state-by-state nursing home report card, Florida-based advocacy group Families for Better Care ranked Alaska the best, followed by No. 2 Rhode Island; No. 3 New Hampshire, Hawaii, and No. 5, Oregon.

Hawaii, Alaska and Maine scored superior grades in every staffing measure reviewed, the study noted.

Of all 50 states and the District of Columbia, Texas came in last at No. 51; preceded by Louisiana at 50; Indiana at 49, No. 48, Oklahoma and No. 47, Missouri.
