Pedestrian killed in Hilo crash ID’d
Hawaii County police have identified the 61-year old woman died who early Wednesday after being struck by a car as Roslyn Rushing of Hilo.
The victim was crossing Kamehameha Avenue just south of Kalakaua Street at 8:59 p.m. Tuesday when she was struck by a 1998 Honda four-door sedan driven by a 35-year-old Hilo woman.
The woman was not in a marked crosswalk, police said. The victim was taken to Hilo Medical Center where she died at 3:55 a.m. Wednesday.
This was the 19th traffic fatality on the Big Island this year, compared with 14 at this time last year.
