Construction is poised to begin on the Strip’s next attraction, Hershey’s Chocolate World, which will be built inside New York-New York as part of MGM Resorts International’s $100 million retail and entertainment district. The two-story, 13,000-square-foot complex will feature an 18-foot-tall replica of a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup and a giant Hershey’s Milk Chocolate bar, along with replicas of other Hershey products.
It will be the ninth Chocolate World and second largest, behind the flagship theme park at the Hershey, Pa., company headquarters. While there won’t be rides in the Las Vegas version, it’s being described as “interactive” and “multisensory.” Hershey’s Chocolate World will be built between the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge, ironically, almost directly across the street from M&M’s World next to MGM Grand.
» 88-cent oysters: Monday through Thursday from noon to 4 p.m., raw oysters and clams are half price in the Big Sur Oyster Bar at South Point. The normal price for a dozen oysters on the half-shell is $21, which is $1.75 per. At half off it’s just $10.50, or 88 cents apiece, which is the best per-oyster price in town. A dozen Littleneck clams on the half-shell are $8.50 (71 cents apiece).
