Hawaii County firefighters responding to house fire in Keaau late Thursday afternoon arrived to find the home engulfed in flames.

The call for the fire on 38th Avenue came in at 5:38 p.m., according to officials at the Hawaii County Fire Department. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 5:47 p.m. and had the blaze under control six minutes later. 

One person was home and escaped the fire uninjured.

Damage to the structure and contents is estimated to be $150,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
