Kapolei Walmart reopened after suspicious package scare

The Walmart in Kapolei was reopened about 3 p.m. after an unattended ammunition box found in the parking lot was determined by police to be empty.
Store officials made the decision to evacuate customers shortly after the suspicious object was located in the store parking lot about 12:20 p.m.
Police did not close any roads as a result of the incident.
Personnel from the Honolulu Police Department¹s Specialized Services Division determined the ammunition box was empty about 2:45 and the store was reopened a short time later.
This morning, the Department of Education locked down the 2,000-student Kahuku school complex after a suspicious device was found at nearby Kahuku District Park. HPD reopened the area after several hours.
