Man loses standoff with city bus in Waipahu

A 18-year-old man was arrested Wednesday night when he blocked the right of way of a city bus.

Police said the incident occurred in Waipahu at 10 p.m.

Roger Morton, president of Oahu Transit, said the incident began as an argument between two bus passengers.

The suspect the got off the bus at Pupuhi street “grumbling and then started banging on the side of the bus,” Morton said.

The suspect then stood in front of the bus, refusing to move.

Morton said at that point the 47-year-old bus driver called for help.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of interfering with the operator of a public transit vehicle.
