Hawaii far from paradise, Caan complains to TV host
Quick, someone call the waaambulance for Scott Caan. Apparently, working on a TV show that once earned him a Golden Globe nomination is a terrible burden since he has to work in Hawaii.
He told Chelsea Handler, host of E!’s "Chelsea Lately," that he didn’t like living in the islands where he stars as Danny "Danno" Williams on "Hawaii Five-0."
There’s "a lot of crystal meth," he said, echoing a similar comment from Handler.
When Caan surfs Hawaii waves, he said it’s all he can do to survive the experience — although the actor wasn’t clear on whether it’s the big surf or other surfers he finds more dangerous.
And the food in Hawaii "sucks."
It’s so bad that he thinks his girlfriend deserves a Purple Heart for sticking by him. By the way, Caan’s girlfriend doesn’t like Hawaii either, he told Handler.

It seems the islands just can’t compete with the high-speed lifestyle of his native Southern California.
"Everything is very slow-motion," he told Handler on her show Thursday night. "I pick up the cup and they … slowly pick up the cup. Everything is too relaxed for me. I like to hustle and there is no hustle there."

Te’o hoaxer agrees to Dr. Phil interview
NEW YORK »Dr. Phil McGraw has booked the first on-camera interview with the man who allegedly concocted the girlfriend hoax that ensnared Notre Dame football star Manti Te’o.
A "Dr. Phil Show" spokesman confirmed Friday the interview with Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, the man accused of creating an online persona of a nonexistent woman who Te’o said he fell for without ever meeting face to face.
The ruse was uncovered last week by Deadspin.com, which reported that Tuiasosopo created the woman, named Lennay Kekua, who then supposedly died last September.
The interview’s airdate was not announced.
Palin exits Fox News contributor position
NEW YORK »Sarah Palin is out as a Fox News Channel contributor.
The network said Friday that it is parting ways with the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate.
Bill Shine, executive vice president at Fox News, said the network has enjoyed its association with Palin and wishes her the best. There was no immediate comment from the former Alaska governor.
A person familiar with discussions between Fox and Palin described the parting as amicable, saying that Fox and Palin had discussed renewing her contract, but she decided to do other things. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak on the record.
Palin debuted as a Fox contributor in January 2010.
