Blustery winds, rains to continue through weekend
Blustery winds and windward and mauka showers that could be blown over to leeward areas are in the forecast through the weekend, forecasters say.
A wind advisory is in effect until Saturday evening across the main Hawaiian islands.
The National Weather Service says winds of 20 to 35 mph, with localized gusts of more than 50 mph, are expected until 6 p.m. Saturday. But the breezy conditions could continue into Sunday.
The weather service says winds this strong can bring down tree branches, lead to local electrical outages and make driving high-profile vehicles difficult.
Meanwhile, a high wind warning has been issued until 6 p.m. Saturday for the Haleakala Summit area and small craft advisories are in effect for most island waters.
