No trash, recycling collection on Christmas and New Year’s Day
The city is reminding Oahu residents that there will be no refuse collection on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, the only two holidays observed by the Department of Environmental Services.
Residents who normally have their gray trash carts picked up on Tuesday should leave them curbside, to be picked up later in the week — usually within two days, the city said.
Residents who normally have mixed recyclables (blue carts) and green waste (green carts) picked up on Tuesday must hold those items until Jan. 8, the next scheduled pickup date.
Residents on twice-a-week manual collection routes should hold items until the next scheduled pickup.
Bulky-item pickup, conducted over a three- to four-day period in each sector, will resume on the days following the holidays.
All city refuse convenience centers, transfer stations, H-POWER and Waimanalo Gulch Sanitary Landfill will be closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
