Crews finish repairs to Makaha water main break; final town-bound lane reopened
Crews have completed repairs to water main break that prompted calls for customers from Honokai Hale to Makaha to conserve water.
No homes or businesses were affected following a break in a 24-inch water main early Thursday morning.
Police briefly closed all lanes of Farrington Highway between Water and Jade streets for an hour. Road resurfacing was completed earlier this morning as the final town-bound highway lane was reopened at 3:45 a.m.
Water service was not interrupted because the line is used to transfer water from the agency’s pumping station to its reservoirs. However, because the water levels in area reservoirs were affected, the Board of Water Supply had asked area customers to reserve water for cooking, drinking and personal hygiene only.
