Wahine outside hitter Hartong earns fourth Big West honor

University of Hawaii outside hitter Emily Hartong has been named the Big West Conference Player of the Week.

It was the fourth weekly women’s volleyball honor for Hartong which is the most of any Big West player.

Hartong averaged 4.62 kills, 3.88 digs and 0.38 service aces as the Rainbow Wahine downed Pacific in five sets and swept UC Davis, with the latter victory helping coach Dave Shoji earn his 1,100 career victory.

Hartong collected 25 kills and 16 digs in the five-set triumph over the Tigers as the Rainbow Wahine rallied from a 2-1 deficit.  She had 12 kills and 15 digs for her eighth double-double of the season as the Wahine (24-2, 16-0) completed an undefeated Big West road record.
