Hawaii gives Shoji 1,100th win with sweep of UC Davis
Emily Hartong and Jane Croson each put down 12 kills as No. 7 Hawaii gave UH coach Dave Shoji his 1,100th career victory with a 25-17, 25-23, 25-17 sweep of UC Davis in a Big West volleyball match tonight in Davis, Calif.
Hartong also had 15 digs and Ali Longo 12. The Rainbow Wahine, winning their 17th straight, improve to 24-2 overall and 16-0 in the Big West.
Devon Damelio led the Aggies (16-14, 10-7) with 13 kills.
Shoji is the second NCAA Division I women’s coach to reach 1,100 wins. Andy Banachowski retired from UCLA with 1,106.
The Wahine return home to finish out the regular season with Big West matches against Cal State Fullerton on Wednesday and UC Riverside on Friday.
Friday’s match is senior night for Hawaii’s lone senior, Emily Maeda. The contest has been moved to 8 p.m. due to Wahine basketball tournament games earlier in the day.
