Interfaith Thanksgiving service features Gabbard
Congresswoman-elect Tulsi Gabbard will be the keynote speaker at the 51st annual Nuuanu Valley Interfaith Thanksgiving Service, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. at Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii.
Gabbard, 31, is the first Hindu elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.
"The Spirit of Giving" is the theme of this year’s interfaith service. The First Unitarian Church of Honolulu is hosting the post-service refreshment period, and participants are encouraged to bring appetizers to share.
The recipient of all donations will be Aloha Harvest, a nonprofit organization that collects donated food and delivers it to social service agencies that feed hungry people on Oahu.
In addition to First Unitarian, the event’s planning team includes Baha’i Faith in Hawaii, Harris United Methodist Church, Honpa Hongwanji, Judd Street United Church of Christ, Nuuanu Congregational Church, Soka Gakkai International-USA, St. Stephen Catholic Church and Temple Emanu-El.
Honpa Hongwanji is at 1727 Pali Highway; phone 536-7044.
