Hawaii auto sales are up 28 percent
Registrations of new cars and trucks are up 28 percent for the third quarter of 2012, compared with the same period last year, according to Hawaii Auto Outlook, released today.
Registrations rose 22.3 percent year-to-date, well-above the 13 percent national increase. Hawaii’s increase was fueled in part by a 78 percent increase in sales of hybrid and electric vehicles so far this year. Alternative powertrain vehicles now make up 6.1 percent of the market.
