Man arrested at Kalihi house fire, taken for psychiatric evaluation
Police arrested a 44-year-old Kalihi man Tuesday at the scene of an early morning house fire in Kalihi.
The man was taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation, police said.
Police have opened an arson investigation into the fire that caused $75,000 worth of damage to the two-story home in Kalihi this morning.
Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of the blaze.
Ten people — nine adults and one child — lived in the nine-bedroom home, built in 2004, at 1520 Leilani St. Fire damaged the second floor of the structure.
The call for the two-alarm fire came in at 6:10 a.m. and was extinguished less than an hour later, Capt. Gary Lum, Honolulu Fire department spokesman said.

One person was hospitalized for smoke inhalation.
