Medical examiner identifies teen who died after nearly drowning at Ko Olina
The Medical Examiner’s office has identified the 17-year-old Kapolei boy who died July 24 while swimming near Ko Olina as Ramil Mangubat.
The cause of death was attributed to brain damage caused by near drowning, according to the Medical Examiner’s office.
Police said the boy, who had been swimming in a lagoon, was found floating unconscious by a family member about 9:50 p.m. July 24
Paramedics took him in critical condition to a hospital where he died.
Information on the boy’s death was released this week.
