Officer subdues tree branch-wielding man with pepper spray
A police officer used pepper spray Thursday morning to subdue a 59-year-old man who allegedly attacked the officer with a tree branch near Moiliili Field.
Police said the incident occurred at 9:05 a.m. when a woman reported that the suspect jumped in front of her car on Isenberg street. The woman told police the suspect was yelling and waving at her she drove on King Street.
A police officer tried to talk to the suspect, who became agitated, grabbed a tree branch and hit the officer on his arm. After the officer used pepper spray, he arrested the man. Charges are pending.
