Inmate accused of hitting 2 prison guards at OCCC
A 24-year-old Halawa Correctional Facility inmate is accused of striking two prison guards while he was being held at Oahu Community Correctional Center last year.
Police said the Halawa inmate faces second-degree assault charges for striking a 40-year-old and a 29-year-old corrections officers at the Kalihi prison facility on Nov. 21, 2011. Neither prison guard suffered major injuries, police said.
The suspect was transferred to Halawa two days after the Nov. 21 incident. He was at the Kalihi facility awaiting trial on offenses, including second-degree murder, terroristic threating, and firearms and illegal drug charges beginning in 2009.
