Rainbows are first team eliminated from WAC tournament
MESA, Ariz. >> Hawaii’s final Western Athletic Conference tournament lasted less than 24 hours as the Rainbows were the first team eliminated following a 9-6 loss to Louisiana Tech on Thursday at Hohokam Stadium.
Matt Sisto (8-4) was rocked for five runs on nine hits in two innings in his 55th and final start for Hawaii, which finished the season 30-25.
Justin Gordey had a career-high four hits for Louisiana Tech (25-27), which had 17 in the game off of five different UH pitchers.
Stephen Ventimilia went 2-for-5 with a double and three runs scored and Kaeo Aliviado was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.
Collin Bennett with 0-for-4 with a walk and was held hitless for the first time in 11 WAC tournament games.
UH went 0-2 for the first time in the tournament since it was brought back in 2006. The Rainbows will move to the Big West Conference next season.
