Fire Department personnel battled flooding Sunday at Honolulu Medical Center-East, where a broken pipe on the second floor sent water down to first floor and basement.
Water and at least some of the electricity were shut off while firefighters attempted to clear away the water, according to Capt. Robert Main, Fire Department spokesman.
But firefighters remained cautious of electrical shocks due to the water, according to radio dispatch.
It was not known whether the flooding occurred in the vacant area of the now-closed hospital or in one of the areas still used by private physicians and a dialysis center.
The hospital has been closed to patients since January.
The flooding was first reported around 7:30 p.m.
Four companies and a battalion chief responded, and additional water pumps were later requested.
