» A $250,000 expenditure in February by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for political ads in Hawaii was classified as electioneering communications — which mention a clearly identified federal candidate — when the organization filed its paperwork with the Federal Elections Commission. A Page B3 story Thursday classified the ad buy as an independent expenditure, which expressly advocates for the election or defeat of a candidate.
