Bill shock website to help mobile users
A “Bill Shock” website to help consumers track wireless carriers’ implementation of voice, data, and text usage alerts has been launched by the Federal Communications Commission.
Bill shock is a sudden, unexpected increase in monthly wireless bills that occur when users unknowingly exceed plan limits. A recent FCC survey revealed that some 30 million Americans have experienced bill shock.
In October, the FCC announced a program to provide free wireless alerts to consumers approaching their plan limits. Now the FCC has launched the Bill Shock website to provide information about when carriers will begin providing the alerts. The site can be found at http://fcc.us/billshocks.
