Hawaii defeats Nittaidai in spring volleyball exhibition

Jane Croson put down 18 kills and Emily Hartong added 15 to lead Hawaii over Nittaidai of Japan tonight 25-14, 25-21, 14-25, 28-26, in an exhibition women’s volleyball match at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Croson had two of the Rainbow Wahine’s six service aces, and Kaela Goodman and Kristiana Tuaniga were both in on five of the team’s nine blocks. Hawaii had 51 digs, with Emily Maeda coming up with 11 and Croson 10.

Nanami Wasai led Nittaidai with 18 kills and Ayumi Nakamura had 14. Mako Kobata had 17 of Nittaidai’s 53 digs. 

Hawaii next plays Nebraska in an exhibition match Friday, March 23, at War Memorial Gym in Wailuku, Maui.

The Wahine’s sand volleyball team makes its debut Saturday at Queen’s Beach. Hawaii will play Nittaidai and Hawaii Pacific in a round-robin tournament beginning at 8 a.m.
