Free sessions focus on nonviolence
A 14-week course on Compassionate Nonviolent Communication by NetWorks Inc. will be held on Tuesdays until May 8 from 7 to
9 p.m. at the Church of the Crossroads at 1212 University Ave.
The first session was held Feb. 7.
There is no charge for the workshop. A copy of the book “Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life,” by Marshall Rosenberg, is available for $15.
The Hawaii Center for Nonviolence, Church of the Crossroads, the First Unitarian Church of Honolulu and the Moiliili Hongwanji Mission are sponsoring the course.
The primary topic is “How do we void violence and suffering while changing the world?” The information can be applied to workplace issues, family interactions, interpersonal relations and governmental situations.

Seminar helps build caregiving skills
The First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu will host a Stephen Ministry Workshop on Feb. 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to help people build personal and congregational caregiving skills. It is sponsored by Stephen Ministries, a St. Louis-based Christian organization.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. The first session will be on “Ministering to Those Experiencing Grief”; the second, an introduction to the Stephen Series, in which lay ministers receive 50 hours of training; and the third, “How to Care in a Distinctively Christian Way.”
