Cincinnati coach Sunahara steps down
Cincinnati women’s volleyball coach Reed Sunahara, a 1981 Hilo High graduate, has stepped down after 12 seasons, the school announced on Monday.
“This is something I’ve been thinking about for some time,” Sunahara said in a news release. “Fifteen years at one place is a long time. I have thoroughly enjoyed my association with UC and I am grateful that I have the chance to go out after winning the Big East tournament.”
Sunahara resigns as the winningest coach in school history, winning two Big East regular-season crowns and one tournament title in 2011. He also won three regular-season Conference USA titles.
He was a two-time All-American in volleyball at UCLA after making all-state in baseball, basketball and volleyball in high school.
