Police say man stabbed firefighter in head with pen
A 29-year-old Hawi man was charged with the stabbing of a 49-year-old firefighter in the head multiple times with a ball-point pen at a fire station on Hawaii island.
Dylan Trumpy was charged with second-degree assault and first-degree terroristic threatening. He is being held at the Kona police cellblock in lieu of $4,000 bail.
At about 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, North Kohala patrol officers responded to a call from the Hawi fire station where they saw Trumpy struggling with a male firefighter in the driveway. The firefighter was bleeding profusely from his head.
Police said Trumpy drove to the station and became disorderly and aggressive, demanding information and names of the firefighters at the firehouse. He allegedly attacked the firefighter and stabbed him in the head multiple times with a ball-point pen after being asked to leave. The firefighter also suffered abrasions to his face and body during the struggle.
The firefighter was taken to Kohala Hospital where he was treated and released for his injuries.
