Conference play opens Sunday
Hawaii Pacific hosts Chaminade in the PacWest season opener for men’s basketball Sunday at Moanalua High gym.
The Sea Warriors (2-3) have a two-game winning streak against the Silverswords (2-3), who lost all three of their games against Division I opponents in last week’s EA Sports Maui Invitational in Lahaina. Sunday’s game begins at 3 p.m.
Weekly honors to HPU’s Hopkins
Hawaii Pacific senior forward Mana Hopkins was named the conference’s player of the week in women’s basketball.
The Konawaena graduate helped the Sea Warriors go 1-1, averaging 10 rebounds and 2.5 assists. She shot 68 percent from the floor (19-for-28).
Women’s honor roll
» Paris Gravely, HPU: The senior guard helped the Sea Warriors go 1-1, averaging 18 points and shooting 11-for-12 from the free-throw line.
» Shayla Washington, BYUH: The junior averaged 15.5 points and 7.5 rebounds as the Seasiders went 0-2.

» Jet Chang, BYUH: The senior guard averaged 20 points and 5.0 rebounds as the Seasiders went 1-1.
» Mychael Hearn, UHH: The junior guard helped the Vulcans go 2-0, averaging 15 points.
» Brady Hurst, BYUH: The junior forward averaged 16 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists as the Seasiders went 1-1.
» Terrell Mack, UHH: The junior led the Vulcans to a 2-0 week, averaging 17 points and 8.5 rebounds.
» Fran Urli, HPU: The senior forward led the Sea Warriors to a 2-0 week, averaging 13 points and 4.5 rebounds.
SOCCER
HPU offers winter youth camp
Hawaii Pacific hosts a soccer camp during Christmas break for youths ages 5 through 12 at Atherton Field on the HPU windward campus.
Sea Warriors women’s coach Gina Brewer is the lead instructor for the camp, which focuses on skills and techniques through age-appropriate training and matches.
The camp runs from 9 a.m. until noon Dec. 19 through 21. For more information, email Brewer at gbrewer@hpu.edu. Registration is available at goseawarriors.com.
