Kahuku blasts Farrington in OIA Red title game
Kahuku avenged an earlier loss to Farrington this season by beating the Govs 23-0 on Friday night in the championship game of the OIA Red playoffs at Aloha Stadium.
The Red Raiders (10-1) won their seventh Red Division title in nine years to earn a first-round bye in the Division I state tournament beginning next week.
Farrington (10-1) suffered its first loss of the season and will travel to Maui to play Baldwin next week.
Running back Aofaga Wily scored on a 1-yard touchdown run and Spencer Nagy caught an 18-yard touchdown pass from Viliami Livai with 3:42 to go to put the game away.
Kahuku’s Kekahu Aluli nailed a 22-yard field goal for the only score of the first half.
Livai ran in a 1-yard touchdown after a 14-yard pass to Benny Fonua set up Kahuku’s second score for a 9-0 lead in the third quarter.
