HPU’s Recca named player of week
Sanoe Recca is the Pacific West Conference’s volleyball player of the week.
Recca led HPU to a 2-0 week with back-to-back road wins over Dixie State College. For the week, she racked up 30 kills, a block assist and 44 digs.
Honor roll
>> Haley Doerfler, Hawaii Pacific: The freshman middle blocker totaled 30 points on 26 kills, a solo block and six block assists for the week.
>> Hillary Hurley, Hawaii-Hilo: The senior middle blocker led the Vulcans to a victory over Academy of Art with 24.5 points on 23 kills and three block assists.
>> Kyra Pelayo, Hawaii Pacific: The senior defensive specialist had 67 digs in eight sets in the Sea Warriors’ two wins.
>> Pihana Kea, Hawaii Pacific: The junior setter averaged 9.62 assists per set and totaled 77 assists in eight sets.
Cross Country
Malley, Krout, Buxton make first team
Hawaii Pacific senior Dany Malley was named to the All-PacWest men’s cross country first team after his third-place finish in the league’s championship meet on Saturday in Goodyear, Ariz.
Spencer Deavila and Justin Royer of Brigham Young-Hawaii were picked to the second team.
Two Brigham Young-Hawaii runners — Lacey Krout and Katherine Buxton — were picked to the All-PacWest women’s first team.
Krout took second and Buxton third in the championship meet.
Seasiders women’s coach Norman Kaluhiokalani was named coach of the year, and BYUH’s Kassondra McGonegal and Kelsey Royer were picked to the All-PacWest second team.

Women’s honor roll
>> Brianna Lopiccolo, Hawaii-Hilo: The freshman forward scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Chaminade.
>> Rylei North, Brigham Young-Hawaii: The freshman forward scored three goals in two wins. She had the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in a 3-1 victory at Dominican, and she scored twice in a 3-0 win at Academy of Art.
Men’s honor roll
>> Chance Bukoski, Hawaii Pacific: The senior forward had three goals, including the game-winner, and an assist in a 5-0 win over Chaminade.
>> Mark Davis, Brigham Young-Hawaii: The senior midfielder scored two goals in a 1-1-1 week for the Seasiders. Both goals came in a 2-2 double-overtime draw against Dominican.
>> Lane Lorenzo, Hawaii-Hilo: The freshman forward scored the game-tying goal in the Vulcans’ 1-1 double-overtime tie against Chaminade.
