Jaywalker on Keeaumoku street assaults officer, police say
A minor jaywalking incident escalated into an assault case early Sunday morning when the alleged offender tried to flee from a police officer, police said.
The 21-year-old man crossed Keeaumoku Street in an illegal manner about 3:40 a.m. and ran from an officer who told him to stop.
The officer ran down the man and was able to subdue him, but not before both men sustained unspecified injuries. Both were taken to a hospital, treated and released.
The suspect faces charges of assaulting a law enforcement officer, disobedience to a police officer, possession of a dangerous drug and jaywalking.
