Home prices fall on Hawaii island, Kauai in September
Sales of single-family homes rose on Hawaii island and Kauai in September compared with a year earlier, while prices continued to fall, the Hawaii Information Service reported today.
Sales of condominium prices were unchanged on both islands, while prices fell, according to the report.
The Kauai single-family market experienced the biggest gain, with the number of sales climbing to 27 in September from 16 a year earlier, an increase of 69 percent. The median price on Kauai, however, fell 22 percent to $415,000 from $529,500.
There were 20 condominiums sold on Kauai in September. The median sales price fell 9 percent to $235,000 from $260,000.
The sales volume for single-family homes on Hawaii island rose 10 percent to 137 in September from 125 a year earlier. The median price fell 11 percent to $224,500 from $251,100.
Hawaii island condo sales were unchanged at 41. The medial sales price fell 12 percent to $212,500 from $240,000.
