Bob Benham joins Kamehameha staff
Bob Benham has been selected as the new Kamehameha associate athletic director.
Benham will replace Glennie Adams, who was promoted to athletic director in July.
Benham is a 1973 graduate of Kamehameha, and taught in the physical education and boarding departments from 1976 to 1991. During that time, he also coached both the boys and girls basketball teams. Benham also coached basketball at Punahou School and Okemos High School in Michigan.
Vercruyssen will compete at Worlds
Honolulu trampolinist Nani Vercruyssen has been selected to represent USA Gymnastics at the 2011 World Trampoline and Tumbling Championships to be held Nov. 17-20 at Birmingham, England.
The competition is the first of two opportunities for athletes to qualify for trampoline for the 2012 Olympic Games.
Vercruyssen, 19, is a member of Hawaii Academy. She currently is in Salzgitter, Germany, preparing for a World Cup event.
UCSD beats Hawaii Pacific in four sets
Hillary Williamson had 15 kills and Lauren Demos added 13 as UC San Diego beat Hawaii Pacific in four sets Thursday night in the Hilton Waikiki Beach Invitational at St. Andrew’s Priory gym.
The scores were 25-14, 21-25, 25-10, 25-19.
Natasha Bell had 13 kills for HPU.
