Circuit court judge nominee gets overwhelming support
Deputy Public Defender Karen Nakasone’s appointment to a circuit judgeship sailed through a hearing before the Senate Judiciary and Labor Committee today with overwhelming testimony supporting her and no one showing up to testify against her nomination.
Gov. Neil Abercrombie nominated Nakasone earlier this month to a 10-year term on Oahu’s circuit bench.
Sen. Clayton Hee, chairman of the committee, said he thinks the committee will unanimously recommend approval of her appointment on Wednesday.
The state Senate is scheduled to vote on the appointment on Thursday.
