A Honolulu-based company is recalling 553 pounds of chicken Caesar salads distributed to grocery stores in Hawaii because the product was mislabeled and actually contains eggs.

The salads, made by So Ono Food Products, have a packet of salad dressing made with egg and those with allergies to eggs may be at risk, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said.

The product includes 12-ounce plastic containers of "Signature Cafe Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad" with a use by date of Aug. 26 through Sept. 2.

Each package bears a label with the establishment number "P-38540" inside the USDA mark of inspection. The salads were made between Aug. 18 and Aug. 25.

So Ono learned of the mislabeling after its co-manufacturer, Taylor Farms, was informed of an adverse reaction after someone ate one of the chicken salad products. No illnesses have been reported in connection with So Ono’s product.
