Second sketch of bus stop beating suspect released


Honolulu police released a new sketch of a suspect in the beating death of a man at a bus stop on North School Street on Aug. 5.

Police have released another sketch of the suspect in the fatal beating of a 64-year-old Honolulu man at a bus stop on North School Street on Aug. 5.

The sketch is based on details provided by another witness to the beating of John Abiley, Jr.

The latest police bulletin describes the man as Hawaiian/Caucasian, in his 20s. He is described as being between 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet, weighing 160 pounds.

His hair is described as short brown and spiky.

He was seen wearing a black tank top, black surfer shorts and Nike athletic shoes. The suspect is believed to have a tribal design tattoo on his right shoulder bicep.

Police said Abiley was sitting at a bus stop when a man approached him and began punching and kicking him several times to the face and body. Abiley was taken to a hospital, where he died on Aug. 11.
