Worker found trapped under scissor lift
A 35-year-old man was taken in critical condition to a hospital Wednesday morning after he was injured in an industrial accident on Sand Island.
Capt. Terry Seelig, Fire Department spokesman, said firefighters and paramedics were summoned at 7:11 a.m. to 5 Sand Island Access Road, where they found a worker trapped under a scissor lift, a mechanical platform that moves vertically. Firefighters freed the worker, and paramedics stabilized the man before taking him to a hospital.
Grand jury indicts copper theft suspect
A deputy city prosecutor says a man accused of trying to steal copper rain gutters from Waianae Elementary School last Friday had collected 31 1⁄2 pounds of copper by the time police arrested him.
An Oahu grand jury returned an indictment Wednesday charging Mosses Keamo, 29, with theft of copper, a class C felony. Deputy Prosecutor Kelli Lee said a witness saw Keamo cutting off rain gutters from school buildings and called police. She said Keamo confessed to the theft when police arrested him nearby after a brief foot chase.
Argument ends with assault, broken phone
A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal property damage after an incident at a Nuuanu home on May 25.
Police said that an argument between two men escalated and the suspect, of a Nuuanu Pali Drive address, struck another man, 54, resulting in undisclosed physical injuries. The suspect also threw the victim’s cell phone to the ground, breaking it, police said. The suspect was identified and arrested Tuesday afternoon.
Girl alleges sex assault and kidnapping
A 12-year-old girl said she was sexually assaulted and kidnapped by a 15-year-old boy in the Makakilo area Monday evening.
The suspect was not arrested, police said.
