Robber wielded rock in Kailua-Kona mugging, police say

Hawaii County police want help in identifying two men who robbed two Kailua-Kona residents Sunday night in Kailua-Kona using a rock.

Police said the two men came out of the bushes, one holding a rock. The other demanded money from a 20-year-old man, who said he didn’t have any money.

The suspect then punched the man in the face, causing some bruising and cutting his lip, police said.

The other victim, a 24-year-old woman, gave cash to the suspects, who fled on foot down a dirt road between Kuakini Highway and Alii Drive, police said.

One suspect was described as 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall, 160 to 180 pounds, with short hair and a deep voice. He wore blue jeans and a dark shirt with a faded design on the abdomen area.

The other was 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, and 200 to 223 pounds, with long hair. He wore blue jeans and a jersey shirt inside an unbuttoned plaid dark gray-and-white dress shirt.
