Night racing at raceway park
Kalaeloa Raceway Park holds its first night race Saturday with the Sand Drags Small Gun Shootout at the track.
Gates open at 1 p.m. with racing at 6 p.m.
Drivers are competing for a winner-take-all purse in various classes. Entry fee is $500.
Tickets are $13 online, $15 at the gate.

Watermans Academy with HCKT
The Hawaii Canoe & Kayak Team is offering a Watermans Academy for ages 8-15 this Monday through Friday.
Sessions are from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., and 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Instruction is in water safety and techniques in kayak, surfski, stand-up paddleboard, paddleboard and outrigger paddling.

Goodwill karate tournament coming up
More than 300 competitors are expected for the 10th Shotokan Karate International Federation’s Goodwill Tournament July 30 at Manoa Valley District Park.
Competition is in kata, team kata, kumite and black belt team kumite, and begins at 9 a.m. Late registration begins Saturday and will be accepted through 8:15 a.m. July 30.

Spearfishing at Ko Olina
West Side Dive & Tackle’s 4th Roi Reckoning Spearfishing Tournament, targeting invasive species, is scheduled for July 30 at Ko Olina’s Lagoon 4.
Two-person teams are required to have one buoy with a legal dive flag marker. Contestants can use pole spears or spearguns for catching roi (peacock grouper), ta ape (striped snapper) and to au (snapper).
Fishing starts at 7:30 a.m.
