No summer hiatus for fans
Monday night’s episode of “Ho‘ohuli Na‘au,” which I covered in “All Bets Are Off,” was again another repeat of “Hawaii Five-0,” as the show is officially on hiatus for the summer. For ‘Five-0’ fans that have all been waiting feverishly for news of Season Two, these last few weeks have cast a nice trade wind breeze on our heated want for more ‘Five-0’ news. We saw the blessing of the cast and crew for Season Two, have enjoyed several suggestive behind the scenes Twitter pictures from Executive Producer Peter Lenkov, and have begun to make our plans for the September 10th Sunset on the Beach.
So until the television premiere of “Ha‘iole,” set for September 19, all we can do is sit back and watch the summer rebroadcasts from Season One and Tweet our numerous speculations about who will be McG’s new love interest, will Chin Ho now be an HPD lackey, and what will happen to Danno now that Rachel is back in scenic New Jersey? And let’s not forget the many discussions about McG’s prison outfits and if he will be able to keep up his Men’s Fitness routine behind bars. Yes, folks– we are going mad from the heat of summer and the boredom of reruns, and no amount of BTS pics on Twitter and Facebook will quench our ‘Five-0’ fever for MORE.
So why not just have a party? And we did — ‘Super Five-0’ Fan style.

Awwww such a great blog today Wendie :))) Looks like you had an amazing turn out and fun was had by all!!! Can’t wait to do one with everyone in Sept 😉 I do have to agree with the memories that have been made and that I’m sure will be made from being a fan of the show are absolutely AMAZING *hugs*
I’ve been saying that all along, that what makes Hawaii 5-O special is that bond we have for those of us who are diehard fans… it’s weird… a year ago, Wendie Burbridge was just a name, and maybe a lady who came aboard the USS Missouri… now, I’m privleged to call her friend. A year ago, I’d never know who Lisa Woo was… and now, she’s a friend… I guess what the point of all that is, is that Hawaii 5-O has made friends for me… and it’s a blessing. Heck, we’ve met fans from as far away as Germany… how many people can say that?!?! WE CAN!!! all in all, it’s been a great ride, and I’m hoping it’ll continue well into the future! :o) Thanks for writing Wendie!
Looks like you all had an awesome time 🙂 Wish the island wasn’t so far away. (Waving from the boiling Northeast corridor… 😉
Wow, Wendie – looks like the Tweetup was a huge success, I know I’m one of the many new fans of Hawaii, thanks to H5-0, who has made all kinds of new friends and can hardly wait to visit and participate in a Tweetup myself! Thanks so much for you blog, and for making your land-locked friends feel a part of the excitement and enjoyment of this terrific show and beautiful state. I’m going to make it out there sometime in the next year, I promise!
We’ve been to a few tweet-ups at different Big City Diners – I can’t say enough good things about the great care they give us! Watching this show during a fan tweet-up turns it into an interactive, audience participation event. We scream, cheer, laugh, recite dialogue, groan at snafus while we drink $5 Blue Hawai’i cocktails and eat our $5 pupu or dinner plate. Big City Diner rewards our behavior with reserved seating, big screen tvs, a special $5.00 menu, separate checks, and a friendly staff that spoils us (mahalo to Daniel and Kit!). Looking forward to season 2 of Hawai’i 5-0 and our #H50 tweet-ups.
Oh, thanks for mentioning Danniel and Kit, Gina- I completely missed adding their names:) Mahalo! They were fantastic:)
Wish I could have been there, looks like you guys had an awesome time. Still hoping to get some funds for SotB but if not this year, then definatly next year when “Hawaii Five-0” is renewed for season 3. Rather be in Hawaii with you guys then dealing with the HEAT WAVE in Michigan!!
Great post as always Wendie.
Like many have said, we are really roasting in NE Ohio, 90+humidity this week. Would really have liked to be able to attend a tweetup with fellow FiveO fans. It looked like a great party with all having a great time.
Just curious if anyone knows whats in the $5 Blue Hawaii cocktails, or is it a case of “do not try this at home”.

Paul, here’s the menu from Big City Diner. It says a Blue Hawaii is Light Rum, Blue Curacao and Pineapple juice. Over ice in a tall glass, an umbrella and a triangle of pineapple add the topper:) Enjoy.

Thank you Wendie. I think my local sports bar should have those items. However the umbrella could be an issue. I will try it on a night that our Cleveland Indians are on the tube, perhaps playing a west coast team. I could say the umbrella is either part of the recipie or required for the taste. Paul
