Hawaii’s 6 percent jobless rate is lowest since January 2009
Hawaii’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined to 6.0 percent in May, the lowest level since January 2009, the state Department of Labor and Industrial Relations announced today.
Unemployment was 6.1 percent in April.
The state agency said, there were 597,000 employed and 38,150 unemployed in May, for a total seasonally adjusted labor force of 635,100.
Nationally, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased to 9.1 percent in May from 9.0 percent in April.
