Man arrested after crashing allegedly stolen car in Pearl City

A man crashed an allegedly stolen car into a wall while trying to flee from a police officer in Pearl City, police said.

A patrol officer was sent to investigate a report of a suspicious vehicle with its rear window broken and a knife in the ignition about 6 a.m. Friday.

The 47-year-old man jumped into the vehicle and tried to drive away, ignoring the officer’s demands to get out of the vehicle. He drove off, but crashed into a wall and then resisted arrest, police said.

Officers booked him on suspicion of resisting an order to stop a motor vehicle, driving a stolen vehicle, fleeing the scene of an accident, resisting arrest, and driving without a license. He was later charged and bail was set at $8,000.
