Honolulu police arrested a 44-year-old Mililani man after a standoff at his home on Kealakaa Street in Mililani last night.

Police arrested the man on suspicion of abuse of a household member and assault against a law enforcement officer.

The incident began at about 7:15 p.m. when the man allegedly assaulted his 16-year-old son. Police closed Kealakaa Street until the suspect was located and arrested at about 9:40 p.m. 

Police said the suspect assaulted an officer after his arrest and was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained during the arrest.

The man’s son and the officer involved declined medical treatment.
