Zipper lane opened to all commuters after 6-car crash
The state Department of Transportation has opened the zipper lane to all cars to relieve the traffic jam caused by a 6-car accident near the H-1/H-2 merge.
Transportation Department spokesman Dan Meisenzahl said the zipper lane was opened to all cars at about 6 a.m. about a half hour after the crash.
Meisenzahl said he was still gathering information about the accident.
He said the DOT is working on a procedure to open the zipper lane sooner if traffic conditions warrant.
