A 26-year-old Wahiawa man was arrested yesterday after returning to a bank money that he allegedly stole with an altered check.

The Mililani Shopping Center bank called the account holder after the man cashed the check about 11 a.m. and found the check had been altered for a larger amount.

Police said the bank called the man and told him to return the money. When he returned and gave back a portion of it about 4 p.m., officers arrested him on suspicion of forgery, police said. He was released him pending investigation about six hours later.
