The University of Hawaii football program led the Western Athletic Conference in attendance for a fourth consecutive year in 2010, according to figures released by the NCAA.

The Warriors distributed an average of 37,311 tickets for eight dates, including the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl.

UH’s turnstile attendance average, including the bowl game, was 34,742.

The NCAA ranked UH 67th among 120 NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision teams, down from 63rd (36,725) in 2009 and 58th in 2008 (41,010).

Since Brigham Young’s departure from the WAC following the 1998 season, either UH or Fresno State has led the conference each year.

The Warriors are assisted by the largest seating capacity in the nine-member WAC, with Aloha Stadium listed at 50,000. Bulldog Stadium in Fresno, Calif., seats 41,031 and Boise’s Bronco Stadium seats 33,500.

Had UH been in the Mountain West Conference, as it is to be composed in 2012, the Warriors would have been second behind the Air Force Academy (40,093).

The WAC ranked ninth among 11 conferences and independents at 23,393.

Five schools reported average crowds of 100,000 or more: Michigan (111,825), Ohio St. (105,278), Penn State (104,234), Alabama (101,821) and Texas (100,654).
