Five people charged in armed robbery that started police chase
Honolulu Police and SWAT team officers close off Kalanianaole Highway near Castle Junction Tuesday as they search for a suspect believed to be armed. Four other suspects in a Hawaii Kai robbery were arrested in the area.
Five people have been charged today in connection with the armed robbery of a Hawaii Kai recycling center Tuesday.
A pursuit following the robbery caused the temporary shut down of Kailua schools and roads.
Among those charged was Liliha man Bronson Maneafaga Cambra, 25, whom police believe is the suspect who eluded capture for more than 12 hours before being arrested near the Kamehameha Highway and H-3 freeway intersection around 11:45 p.m. Tuesday.
He is being held on $100,000 bail and is charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree robbery and two firearms infractions.
Police said he fled from a black Mazda that was abandoned on Auloa Road near Castle Junction. Hawaii Pacific University’s Hawaii Loa campus, Le Jardin Academy and the mauka campus of Trinity Christian School went into lockdown for several hours beginning at 9 a.m.

Also charged were:
>> Pomaikai Ah Mook Sang, 20, of Hawaii Kai, with two drug-related counts. She is being held on $15,000 bail.
>> Robert Berrios III, 32, of Hawaii Kai, with first-degree robbery. He is being held on $75,000 bail.
>> John Andrew Cullen, 27, of no address, with first-degree robbery and a probation violation charge. He is being held on $100,000 bail.
>> Terii Nakaahiki, 39, of Makiki, with two drug-related counts. He is being held on $20,000 bail.
Police said two men brandishing a .38-caliber revolver robbed a Reynolds Recycling truck at Kealahou Street in Hawaii Kai around 9 a.m. Three others were apparently in the car, police said.
