Afternoon fire guts bedroom of Kauai home
One person was treated for breathing difficulties today after a house fire destroyed an upstairs bedroom on Kauai.
Seventeen firefighters and two medics were dispatched to the fire, which was reported at 2:28 p.m. at 6820 Koolau Road in Moloaa, the Kauai Fire Department said.
Firefighters arrived at 2:42 p.m. and brought the fire under control in five minutes. It was extinguished at 2:56 p.m.
Firefighters said smoke detectors in the home were working properly and all the occupants escaped without injury.
One person, however, was treated at the scene for breathing difficulties.
The cause of the fire remains unknown and under investigation.
